Public Safety Bicycle Instructor Training Course

Dates: May 6-10, 2024 (8:00 am – 5:00 pm)   

Fee: $995 includes all materials, memory stick with all instructor presentations, forms, and materials, Louka Tactical water bottle, LouKa shirt, tire patch kits.

Purpose:

  • Conduct safe and credible in-service basic and refresher bike training to include specific patrol and response duties
  • Prepare and deliver bicycle-related educational courses relative to the community and their agency
  • Enhance the delivery of their organization’s service to their client and their community via the bicycle
  • Evaluate and maintain their agency’s bicycle equipment
  • Evaluate and consult on policies and current operations for their organization

NOTE: This 5-day course is academically and physically challenging.

Attendee Requirements:

  • Successfully pass both on-bicycle skill and written tests
  • Explain, demonstrate, and evaluate on-bike technical skill sets
  • Diagnose and correct rider error; improve rider performance
  • Perform advanced bicycle maintenance
  • Construct and deliver instructional blocks in both the skill and knowledge domains relative to public safety and community cycling
  • 200 rounds of pistol ammo, wrap around eye protection, soft hearing protection

About LouKa Tactical: In business since 1999  with almost 50 years of combined teaching experience instructors Kathy Vonk, an IPMBA Instructor since 1993 and police officer since 1988. Kathy Instructor-Trainer certified through IPMBA and LEBA instructor certified. UBI Maintenance certified. 30 years of teaching experience and former president of IPMBA. Kathy authored the fitness and nutrition chapters for IPMBA Complete Guide 2nd Edition and the IACP’s Police Cycling model policy. Lou Ann Hamblin-retired LEO and IPMBA Instructor for police, EMS and security. 22 years of police cycling training experience. Authored the firearms chapter for IPMBA Complete Guide 2nd Edition and taught at IPMBA’s annual conference for 10 years.
